SeaofSkills is an Erasmus+ project that aims to develop an education and training material for small-scale fishers with the aim of reinforcing the quality and attractiveness of fishers’ training, while addressing existing needs and requirements within the fisheries and the vocational education and training sectors

Fisheries is recognised as one of the pillars of development at International and European level. The extent of its contribution to sustainable development, economic growth and food security, however, highly depends on the knowledge, skills and competences of fishers. Within this framework, a nine-partner Consortium from Greece, Turkey, Malta, Ireland and Spain is formed utilising individual and collective expertise. Based on identified needs, the project “Enriching Fishers' Knowledge, Skills and Competences” [SeaofSkills] funded through the Erasmus+ Programme, is working on developing an education and training material for small-scale fishers. The aim is to reinforce the quality and attractiveness of fishers’ training, while addressing existing needs and requirements within the fisheries and the vocational education and training sectors.

Olivia Daly

Olivia’s role in the SeaofSkills project was to examine, analyse and present past and current developments on innovation and good practices in the fields of both Fisheries and Continuing Vocational Education and Training at national, European and international level. Furthermore, AquaTT were in charge of defining the methodology for fishers’ needs identification and analysis and the development of the guidelines based on which a. the CVET Curriculum and Training material, b. the Implementation Manual for CVET Providers, and c. the Guide for Trainers has been produced.
