Aquaculture in the European Union encompasses the production of a wide range of fish and mollusc species and has grown rapidly into an industrial sector. While aquaculture appears to be integrated within the Common Fisheries Policy (CFP), there is no real Europe-wide policy for aquaculture development. The Aquainnova project assists the European Aquaculture Technology and Innovation Platform (EATiP) in promoting the exploitation, dissemination and communication of EU funded aquaculture RTD. The project is providing the support and methodologies required to facilitate the development of a Vision and Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda on the sectoral components of European aquaculture for 2030. |
