Background: Professional Accountant with diverse practical experience across multiple sectors with a demonstrable record of achievement in driving commercial success in complex organisations. Experience in Multinational organisations, Health and Education sector at senior level.

Position: Programme Manager
Qualifications: MSc Animal Sciences, specialising in animal production systems
Background: I worked as an Education Assistant at Wageningen University (the Netherlands) and as a consultant at FAO (Italy).

Avril new Name: Avril Hanbidge

Qualifications: MSc Applied Environmental Science, BSc Environmental Biology
Background: I qualified from University College Dublin in 2014, and my research focussed on freshwater ecology. I have previously worked in water resources research, natural resource management and most recently in conservation project management for Parks Victoria, Australia.

Position: Knowledge Transfer and Impact Officer,  (EMPORIA4KT, PerformFish, TechOceanS)
Qualifications: MSc Environmental Policy
Background: Before retraining in environmental policy, I worked as a military communications officer and a logistics and technical specifications assessor, and I am experienced in transferring technical knowledge to non-technical audiences. My MSc thesis looked at the perception of marine science and regulations among fishing communities.


Peadar new Name: Peadar Ó Raifeartaigh

Position: Senior Communications Officer

Background: Before pursuing science communication professionally, my previous roles included work as an anti-money laundering analyst, and as an English language teacher at a Polish high school. My MSc thesis focused on barriers to effective public engagement on the EU-funded NERRI Project.

With a BA in Zoology and a MSc in Management, I have worked as a science communicator in several national institutions including Dublin Zoo, the National Museum of Ireland and RTE. My areas of interest include sustainability, conservation and stakeholder engagement.

Background: I am a research communicator with experience of delivering diverse science communications and engagement activities in an international environment. My previous roles include leading communications for the International Association for the Evaluation of Educational Achievement (IEA, Amsterdam) and research engagement activities for Cancer Research UK (Manchester and Cardiff centres).

Background: I am an environmental scientist with particular interests in meteorology, marine science and sustainable blue economic growth.  I have 20 years’ experience in the scientific research and higher education sector, specialising in research impact acceleration, stakeholder engagement and strategic project and change management.  


EBG Name: Emma Bello Gomez

Position: Executive Director (EuroMarine)
Qualifications: (Msc) Development Cooperation and Project Management, (MSc) Coastal Zone Evaluation and Management 
Background: Emma has more than years’ experience in EU-funded projects. She has been the communication, dissemination and exploitation work package leader in several H2020/FP7 projects and is carrying out this role in different H2020 projects, many of which are focused on aquaculture. Emma has wide experience in organising and facilitating large multi-stakeholder events and has provided training in proposal writing and management different organisations. She has worked as Senior Project Manager in several companies in Spain, Ireland, Belgium and France both in securing funding and managing projects.
